CERTIFIED REGISTERED NURSE ANESTHETIST (CRNA)

Description: Conway Medical Center is looking of CERTIFIED REGISTERED NURSE ANESTHETIST (CRNA) right now, this vacancy will be designated in South Carolina. The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for each patient assessment that includes, planning, implementing and evaluating the anesthetic provided for the cases performed at Con way Medical Center (CMC). The CRNA will conduct a pre-anesthesia evaluation, obtain informed consent for anesthesia, and develop and initiate a patient-specific plan of care in collaboration with the anesthesiologist or supervising physician. The CRNA will select, order, prescribe and administer drugs and controlled substances. The CRNA will select and insert invasive and noninvasive monitoring modalities, order and evaluate diagnostic tests, and request consultations. The CRNA plans and initiates anesthetic techniques, including general, regional, local, and sedation. Anesthetic techniques may include the use of ultrasound and other technologies for care delivery, and to improve patient safety and comfort. The CRNA will respond to emergency situations using airway management and other techniques, facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia, and provide post-anesthesia care, including medication management, conducting a post-anesthesia evaluation, and discharge from th e post-anesthesia care area or facility. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to disassembling equipment and clean work area, report necessary equipment repairs and adjustments to proper personnel, and maintaining records of each anesthetic administered and prepare periodic reports related to activities. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. The CRNA performs functions as noted above and generally with an assigned patient load, but CRNA is ready and willing to assist co-workers with ANY support function and across any case load including other departments under Anesthesia that may not be the normal primary work assignment.
Education:
A Master's degree from a school of nurse anesthesia approved by the State Accrediting Agency and the Council on Accreditation of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) required
(CRNA graduating prior to December 31, 2003 must provide documentation of gradua tion from an advanced, organized formal education program for nurse anesthetists accredited by the national accrediting organization of that specialty.)
Experience:
- Previous experience as a CRNA preferred.
- Previous regional anesthesia skills preferred.
- Previous OB experience preferred.
- Current South Carolina (or compact state) licensure APRN (SCLLR) in good standing required.
- Current Certification/Recertification from the National Board of Certification/Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) required. (New Graduates must successfully be certified within 1 year of completion of their program.)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required or obtained within 90-days of employment.
- The ability to rotate through the on-call schedule on a regular basis required.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with co-workers, nursing colleagues, physicians, and department heads required.
- Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required.
- Strong organizational/time management skills required.
- Strong PC skills required.
- Strong verbal communication skills required.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement in emergency situations required.
- Occasional exposure to difficult patients.
- Stress level high due to multiple demands frequently occurring simultaneously.
- Frequent exposure to bio-hazardous materials.
- Potential exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens.
- Prolonged standing and walking required.
Medium - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is freq uently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to hear to process instructions and safety code and alarms required.
